September 12th - Day 1 (Lecture)
Morning: Composite Artistry… Simplifying the Complex
This lecture will discuss the importance of resin in the everyday practice. You will learn a systematic way to perform composite artistry at the highest level. We will demystify the most difficult part of Composite artistry; shade selection. We will also be discussing must haves in your armamentarium as well as multiple techniques that will allow you to mimic any natural tooth with resin.
Learning Objectives:
- Why composite?
- Demystifying color selection for anterior composites
- Must haves in your armamentarium to achieve success
- techniques to complete a class 4 resin with esthetic excellence.
Afternoon: The Blueprint for Success….. achieving esthetic excellence in porcelain with a focus on risk assessment, prep design, and delivery.
The art of cosmetic dentistry consists of many parameters to achieve clinical excellence and success. This lecture will begin focusing on risk assessment as it relates to preparation design for porcelain restorations. Many times, we see handpiece interdisciplinary dentistry resulting in the unnecessary removal of enamel, but at what expense to the patient and their teeth? Secondly, we will focus on preparation designs to minimize risk to the natural dentition. We will then discover the importance of absolute isolation when delivering your porcelain art. Finally, we will show case presentations to help you tackle difficult cases such as misaligned teeth, dark preparations, canine substitutions and diastema closures.
Learning Objectives:
- Decision making and risk in Prep design
- Proper prep sequence to minimize risk
- The importance of isolation in delivery
- Case presentations that tackle difficult situations
September 13th - Day 2 (Hands On)
Morning: Direct Restorations
We will focus on the single shade technique in order to master primary, secondary and tertiary anatomy. This will be followed by the “Window Technique”, which will allow us to add shade and characterization after primary anatomy complete.
Afternoon: Indirect Restorations
We will complete and exercise prepping 6 anterior teeth with different prep designs, followed by re-prepping through a provisional to ensure minimal tooth preparation for our final restorations.
